Our culinary team has put together an exciting new menu for St. Paul that is packed with creative new ideas for school food service.
We have designed this menu around fresh ingredients, a unique creative style of both preparation and presentation, and style of service that represents the excellence of this institution.
One of the first challenges that we addressed was the over abundance of fried food in the school food service setting. We found the best way to deal with this is to remove the fryer from the kitchen. No fryer...no fried food!
Food Allergies
Of the many allergies that a child can suffer from, among the most concerning is a peanut allergy. In some cases, an acute peanut allergy can prove fatal. In any given year, St. Paul has several students who suffer from peanut and/or other allergies. At St. Paul, we will never knowingly use an ingredient that is known to contain peanuts. Flavor does not use peanut oil or other product known to contain peanuts in the preparation of our meals. We do not offer peanut butter or any ice cream novelty known to contain peanuts. However, we make no claim to be a "peanut-free school."
The simple reason for this is, we are unable to guarantee the ingredient information provided by our many suppliers and distributors. Certainly, the accuracy of ingredient labels is far better now than it has been in recent history but it is not 100% reliable.
Working with the school nurse, we are aware of all students who have been identified as having an allergy. These students are "flagged" in our computer system so that, at checkout, we can be aware of any potential allergic interactions.
