Music

At St. Paul, students are involved in music making twice weekly. Our primary goal is to enable students to be lifelong lovers of music, whether as appreciative listeners, skillful participants, or inspired creators.

Students experience music through singing, playing instruments, moving, listening to music, and music reading. They learn songs with scripture, about composers, and explore numerous genres of music. Sequential lessons are geared to the developmental levels of each grade and a variety of methodologies and techniques are used in each class. Classroom activities, use of technology, and public performances help students gain confidence and competence throughout the year. Creativity in the learning process is always encouraged.

New Strings Class This Year

Sixth grade students have the option of studying violin during their school day. These students meet four times throughout the week. Students learn techniques as well as further their notation and theory studies. String students perform at special St. Paul occasions during the school year.
