The Spanish program at St. Paul provides students with a strong foundation in vocabulary and high frequency phrases, while conversationally building upon this foundation as upper school approaches.
Through song, physical response exercises, storytelling, games, and team projects, students respond to verbal prompts, interact verbally in group settings, and demonstrate auditory comprehension. Additionally, students are presented with a Biblical worldview of Hispanic cultures. Students are encouraged to be international bridge builders as they consider a world of countries, cultures, and languages, all of which are crafted by God. Through dance, song, food tasting, and country exploration, students are exposed to worlds outside of the one in which they live, and they learn to enjoy and appreciate both the discovered similarities and differences.
Beginning in October 2011, we will be joining over 60,000 students in the United States and Canada as we create symbolic butterflies and send them to Mexico for the winter. Children in Mexico who live beside the monarch's winter sanctuaries protect the butterflies all winter and send them north in the spring. Through the Symbolic Migration, children across North America are united by the monarch butterfly and celebrate its spectacular migration. Throughout the experience, they learn authentic lessons of ambassadorship, conservation, and international cooperation. Click HERE to learn more!
