Early Childhood

In the Early Childhood (junior kindergarten & kindergarten) Program at St. Paul Christian Academy we have the unique opportunity to work with children during a wondrous time in their lives.

Pre-schoolers are excited about learning!  They are both curious about everything they are encountering in the world around them and capable of learning from the exploration of that world.  As parents, we hope to preserve and protect the precious curiosity 4 and 5-year olds have, hoping that it will inspire them to want to learn and grow throughout their lives.  As educators, we work to create opportunities for each child to experience the thrill of learning so that it can fully support our students' drive to want to learn more and more about God's world.

Author William Bennett says this about early childhood education, "In some respects, the chances of your child's doing well in school are determined before he reaches kindergarten.  Likewise, your greatest contribution to what you hope will be a lifetime of learning comes now, in the preschool years.  If you do your job well at the beginning, your child is likely to thrive when he comes into contact with other teachers.  If you provide a loving and safe home; if you give him the feeling that he is cared about and cared for; if you provide a stimulating environment and ample chances for him to explore it; if you set sensible limits and the right examples; if you read to him, play with him, talk to him, and answer his questions-if you do all these things, school teachers should be able to serve him well.  If you do not do these things it will be immensely difficult for professional educators to save your child from academic mediocrity."

It is our desire to partner with each family to provide a loving environment in which each child can learn in stimulating classrooms that serve as a backdrop where he or she can grow through playing, listening, expressing, and questioning to enter a world of academic excellence in preparation to glorify God.  Psalm 25:4-5 says, "Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me,  for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
